Statement from State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90), Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, Re: Auditors Report on Department of Criminal Justice

Statement from State Representative Craig Fishbein (R-90), Ranking Member of the Judiciary Committee, Re: Auditors Report on Department of Criminal Justice

"For years now, including during this past session, in an effort to examine their intentions and efficacy, I've inquired about the myriad statewide diversionary programs in Connecticut. It's troubling to, once again, hear one of these important programs is being misused, most likely to the detriment of victims of crime," Rep. Fishbein said. "This latest Department of Criminal Justice audit is yet another example of the largesse of state government and a system that puts so much emphasis on debating and defining the finer points of each state law only to then disregard outcomes until a report like this comes to light. We Republicans appreciate the auditors for noting these discrepancies and look forward to working with our colleagues and the Department of Criminal Justice to rein in this reckless behavior and solve this situation going forward."
